Compared to my previous experiences, this school offered the perfect combination of expertise in what I hoped to learn along with supportive mentors. Quality mentorship: The primary reason I came to CH is because of the quality mentorship from faculty & staff. This review is specific to my experience as a master's student in the School of Social Work (with in-person, hybrid, and virtual classes). Graduate Student: Studying at UNC Chapel Hill is a great privilege, still with room for growth. Overall I would highly recommend attending. There have been advances in supporting our students of color, however they are fairly new so there is little expectations on the amount of support they may provide. The demographic population is also a concern as it is a predominantly white institution which can correlate to struggles for students of color. There are additional concerns with the quality of hygiene here as certain public utilities are not the best to gain access of. There is an emphasis to put yourself out there, however if communicating is not your strength, do not worry! There are plenty of events that aid students in beginning the path towards networking such as events for introverted students. You are given an active role in making connections as well as forming new career opportunities during and after your attendance here. Graduate Student: What I found while in attendance here in USC is that there are a plethora of resources available to the students given at every opportunity available. Campus feels safe to walk around, even at night, and the directly surrounding areas generally don't have issues.Honestly, I can't speak highly enough about how great this school is. That being said, this feels like a very accepting school compared to the surrounding areas, and most people.Otherwise, Ann Arbor is a great town. STEM majors especially can easily get involved with the hospital and research facilities nearby.Complaints: diversity should be better, and some of the first-year facilities are average. There's more clubs than I can name here.Opportunities are plentiful, especially involving research. University of Michigan - Ann ArborĤ548 Niche users give it an average review of 3.9 stars.įeatured Review: Sophomore says Michigan is truly the best of all worlds! World class academics? Check! Top tier athletics? Check! Great party scene? Check! It is so easy to get involved with a wide variety of interests. ![]() This university is amazing and extremely beneficial to your future career. It allowed me to broaden my knowledge and perspectives, and I still use the skills I learned in those classes today. The university encourages students to explore different fields and take classes outside of their major, which I found to be incredibly valuable. One thing that stood out to me about Stanford was the emphasis on interdisciplinary studies. The classes were engaging and interactive, with lots of opportunities for discussion and collaboration. They pushed us to think critically and creatively, challenging us to go beyond the textbook and truly understand the material. The professors were all experts in their fields and incredibly knowledgeable. The campus is absolutely beautiful, with stunning architecture and sprawling gardens that make for a peaceful and serene environment to study in. Niche User: As a former student of Stanford University, I can say with confidence that it was an incredible experience. I was finally able to satisfy my love for learning here. ![]() You're forced to learn time management skills. The problem set difficulty are elevated beyond a typical school's, and they force you to collaborate with others. The academics are exceedingly difficult by content and pace. Each dorm has an extant history and culture you can automatically learn about someone by what dorm they live in. The campus is extremely welcoming and you really get to be who you want to be it's very beautiful. Some come in "normal", others finally get to truly express the weird and unique that they've been suppressing their whole lives. Some are decently smart and work hard enough to get in, others come in doing Olympiads from when they were 5 years old. The baseline of this place is that everyone is very smart. Sophomore: Currently reaching near the middle of my time here, and this school truly works you to the bone.
